Hours: Full-time / minimum of 30 hours per week (flexible hours available on request)
Salary: £55K-£65K

Job Description

Role Overview

The Senior Clinician plays a vital role in contributing to the ND assessment service. As part of this, you will complete clinical assessments and clinically supervise a team of neurodevelopmental practitioners. The Senior Clinician will ensure high clinical standards, while contributing to service improvements and assessments.

You will support the clinical lead to ensure high quality clinical leadership to the neurodevelopmental service, ensuring it operates in line with best practices, clinical guidelines, and organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct autism and ADHD assessments using structured tools (e.g., ADOS-2, ADI-R, ACE, DIVA).

  • Provide clinical supervision, case management, and mentoring to the clinical staff within the neurodevelopmental service, promoting continuous professional development (CPD).

  • Lead and contribute to complex MDT case discussions.

  • Ensure adherence to NICE guidelines and best practice standards.

  • Oversee clinical reports and quality assurance processes.

  • Support with training and professional development.

  • Supporting new clinicians through Oakdale’s induction and competency frameworks.

  • Collaborate on service development and quality assurance.

  • Ensure that patient-centred care is at the heart of the service, involving patients and their families in decision-making and care planning.

  • Work in partnership with the Neurodevelopmental Service Leadership team to provide key clinical input to service development and expansion initiatives, as part of key work streams and where appropriate leading initiatives within this.

  • Support the clinical lead to build capability and capacity within the neurodevelopmental service clinical team by building confidence and creating a service where practitioners are skilled in their diagnostic decision making through appropriate tools such as supervision 

  • Support clinicians to work closely with families and carers to provide support, education, and guidance on neurodevelopmental conditions and available interventions.

  • Facilitate communication across disciplines to ensure comprehensive, coordinated service delivery.

  • Promote a compassionate, patient-centred, and inclusive culture throughout the neurodevelopmental pathway.

  • Ensure the service aligns with the organisation's ethos, values, and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Embed a culture of respect, integrity, and continuous improvement, ensuring all staff are committed to providing the highest quality care for service users and their families.

  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards as set by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

  • Ensure that all clinical practices adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly when working with vulnerable children and adults.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Registration (e.g., HCPC, GMC, NMC) as a qualified professional.

  • Previous experience of facilitating clinical supervision.

  • Previous experience of leading complex MDT discussions.

  • 3+ years experience in autism and ADHD assessments using structured tools (e.g. ADOS-2, ADI-R, ACE, DIVA).

  • Previous experience of complex case formulation and differential diagnosis. 

  • Knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding, and MDT working.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Evidence of a positive and proactive attitude, motivated and solution-focused.

  • Collaborative and flexible working style with a focus on improving patient outcomes and the ability to foster a supportive team environment.

Desirable

  • Clinical supervision qualification

  • Experience in delivering training
